In 1982, local Lions Clubs determined that an eye bank was needed to serve the Dayton area of Ohio to provide corneas for sight-saving transplant surgery. On April 5th, 1982, the Lions Eye Bank of West Central Ohio, located in Dayton, Ohio, opened their doors. Since then, the eye bank has established relationships with Community Tissue Services in Toledo to expand service to Northern Ohio and with Lifeline of Ohio in Columbus to serve Central Ohio.
